The importance of anti-salt grout in restoration of plaster, after dehumidification treatment.

Before new plaster coatings are applied, it is particularly important to apply a base coat of anti-salt grout TRH 745 added to TRB 305 to close the humidity/salt cycle definitively. Without this grout, during the application of the new plaster the water in the mix could hydrate the salts present in the masonry, making them transmigrate to the surface during the drying stage.
Being hygroscopic, these salts would absorb humidity from the air and their variation in volume (from anhydrous to saturated) could cause aesthetic damage to the final paintwork. Old plaster can be removed starting on the day following the injection of the formula into the wall. This procedure has the triple effect of improving the input of carbon dioxide inside the wall, favouring the evaporation of residual humidity above the chemical barrier and removing salt which has saturated plasterwork over time. On frescoes walls the latter procedure is replaced by localised desalination through absorbent packs.
The drying times for a repaired wall vary according to the material with which it is built, the typical climatic conditions in the area where the work was carried out, the thickness of the wall and the choice of formula used, water or solvent-based*.

La polizza nominale di garanzia prodotto

To receive the product guarantee nominal policy just send Tecnored in Verona a photocopy of the purchase invoice for DryKit®, which should also indicate the number of items bought and a 1:100 scale plan which highlights the treated areas. If the amount of formula is less than the figure indicated in the table in the instruction manual, in relation to the repaired wall, the benefits of the policy will automatically be rendered null and void.
The guarantee may also be extended to plaster coatings by sending the documentation from the purchase of anti-salt grout and indicating the areas of application.

DryKit: Formulated

TRE 128 ECOLOGICAL

Two-part solution A+B based on a siloxane micro-emulsion in hydrolysed heteropolar solvents with separate catalysis and penetration encouraging agents formulated with a long shelf-life (More than three years from the date indicated on the packaging).
Component A: catalyst with penetration encouraging agents and active base substance.
Component B: active reactive substance.
Characteristics and fields of use: A new generation water repellent product with high penetration power, suitable for creating water-repellent chemical barriers in walls built with ancient and/or recent construction materials. Created with non-toxic hydrolysed solvents with a high penetration power, it permits occupied buildings to be treated because the rooms can be re-used even a few days after intervention.
Preparation: Pour content “B” into recipient “A” and mix rapidly for 7/9 minutes with propeller mixer. Once mixed, the formula must be used within 12 hours. Any residual formula remaining in the sacks 24 hours after they have been filled cannot be used in the successive holes. It can however be used as a protective water-repellent for facade wall surfaces or for plasterwork exposed to atmospheric agents.
Considerations and prevention: Formula TRE 128 can happily replace TRS 114 in all situations with limited drying times, except for frescoed walls where we recommend the specific TRF135 formula.
Component (B) is inflammable while component “A” and the final preparation A+B are inflammable over 90° C.
During perfusion, all necessary protective measures must therefore be implemented, such as: using protective gloves and possibly goggles with protection.
Keep far away from children and have pure water available for eye-washing in the event of contamination or contact with the same.

TRX 118 LARGE QUANTITIES

Two-part solution A+B based on two-part silane monomers with separate catalysis and penetration encouraging agents, formulated with a long shelf-life (More than three years from the date indicated on the packaging). Component A: catalyst with penetration encouraging agents and active base substance.

Component B: active reactive substance
Characteristics and fields of use: Suitable for creating water-repellent chemical barriers in all kinds of walls. Especially recommended for work on a vast scale. Slightly longer drying times than the other formulae as it contains distilled water.
Excellent quality/price ratio.

Preparation: Pour content “B” into recipient “A” and mix rapidly for 7/9 minutes with propeller mixer. Once mixed, the formula must be used within 15 hours. Any residual formula remaining in the sacks 24 hours after they have been filled cannot be used in the successive holes.

It can however be used as a protective water-repellent for facade wall surfaces or for plasterwork exposed to atmospheric agents. Considerations and prevention: Component “B” is inflammable while component “A” and the final preparation A+B are not inflammable, but slightly corrosive.

During perfusion, all necessary protective measures must therefore be implemented, such as: using protective gloves and possibly goggles with protection.
Keep far away from children and have pure water available for eye-washing in the event of contamination or contact with the same.

TRS 114 ANCIENT PLASTEWORK

An oligomer solution of polysiloxane in a de-aromatised aliphatic solvent with penetration encouraging agents-Ready-to-use formula.
Characteristics and fields of use.
This is a multipurpose formula suitable for creating chemical barriers against capillary water ascent in any kind of construction material (tufa, lava rock, calcareous, concrete, bricks, etc.).

Ideal when treating ancient walls where the successive demolition of the original plasterwork is not possible. (N.B. this plasterwork must obviously be successively desalinated). It does not produce sub-products worthy of note deriving from the polymerisation process. The advantages deriving from not introducing watery solutions into damp walls are obviously gained in the extremely short drying times offered by this formula.

Considerations and prevention.
Use on-site it does not lead to any problems other than respecting elementary fire prevention safety standards.
When used in inhabited buildings the premises must be suitably ventilated for 30/40 days from application, until the solvents have completely evaporated.
Even at 20/30 days after the intervention, the aromatic part of the solvents may be noticed in an olfactory way in the presence of naked flames (cigarette lighting, methane gas heating, etc.), perhaps inducing false, non-existing gas leak alarms.

TFR 135 FRESCOES WALLS

Solution of modified polysiloxanes in super reticulating solvents with penetrating agents and balancing surfactants-Ready-to-use formula.

Characteristics and use fields.
TRF 135 is a formula especially studied to form chemical barriers against rising damp in walls decorated with frescoes or whitewash paint.
The formula proves extremely balanced and refined for this specific use, in that it does not cause any damage to the support or to the pictorial film. It obviously does not produce reaction sub-products and the mixture of super reticulating solvents united with the balancing surfactants confers total reliability. It therefore permits the normal touch-up and restoration phases. On particularly degraded frescoes, a restoration worker must apply suitable “veils with paraloid B72” to prevent parts falling off or material losses, before proceeding with the application.
We recommend performing preventive sampling on the paint surface to identify any touch-ups performed in the 50’s and 60’s with non-conforming soluble products before starting work.

Considerations and prevention.
Use on-site does not lead to any problems other than respecting elementary fire prevention safety standards, as this is a formula in inflammable solvent.
When used in inhabited buildings the premises must be suitably ventilated for 2 – 3 weeks from application, until the solvents have completely evaporated.
